Energy

A boutique law firm committed to the development of energy projects in Africa

Financing energy projects is the only way to guarantee everyone access to sustainable energy services and enable the continent’s economic and social development.

At Kadéï, we provide our Clients our solid knowledge in developing complex power projects in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.

Area

In the framework of an “energy for all” ambition, our firm advises public and private actors concerning large-scale electric power projects in Africa.

Despite the seventh sustainable development goal of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Africa: “adequate, reliable, sustainable and modern services at an affordable cost” and the importance of the continent’s energy resources:

  • 600 million people in sub-Saharan Africa still do not have access to electricity;
  • Nearly 900 million do not have the opportunity of using ‘clean’ energy. Charcoal or paraffin fuels, which pollute the atmosphere, are still “standard” and cause almost half a million premature deaths every year, mainly respiratory diseases that affect first and foremost women and children.

According to UN demographic projections, Africa’s population may reach 2.5 billion by 2050. Population growth and urbanisation will inevitably increase the energy demand.

We guide our Clients through those transformations and pragmatically advise them on social consequences inherent to developments of energy production projects throughout French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.
